Organics Processing Facilities Directory

Organics Processing Facilities Directory

This online directory is divided into two different types of processing facilities - Permitted Compost Facilities and Source Separated Processing Facilities.  The FDEP recently revised and renamed their directory of Yard Waste Processing Facilities to provide more information regarding the materials accepted at each facility.  The new directory is named the Source Separated Organics Processing Facilities Database.

Source Separated Organics Processing Facilities
Owners and operators of source-separated processing facilities (i.e., yard trash processing, manure blending, or vegetative waste/animal byproduct/manure composting) that meet certain design and operating criteria in Rules 62-709.320, and .330 or .350, F.A.C., may register with the DEP instead of obtaining a permit.  However, if these criteria are not met, then a solid waste permit under chapters 62-709 (for recycling activities) or 62-701 (for disposal activities), F.A.C., must be obtained.  There are 293 source separated organics processing facilities in Florida, which have registered or are permitted under another solid waste permit, as of May 15, 2010.
